چکیده

Europe. A total of 660, 522, and 4940 soil samples belonging to GRIZZLY, HYPRES, EU-HYDI databases, respectively, were used for parametric evaluation. The water retention hydraulic conductivity functions are crucial input information land surface models. Determining these by using direct methods is hampered excessive time unaffordable costs required field activities laboratory analyses. Pedotransfer (PTFs) widely-used indirect techniques enabling properties be predicted easily-retrievable information. In a evaluation, the predictive capability PTFs examined comparing measured estimated parameters saturated conductivity. Yet about performance specific modeling applications mandatory evaluate PTF effectiveness in greater depth. This approach commonly defined as functional best performing four selected evaluations tested under two evaluations. first encompasses spatial interpolation with geostatistical technique, whereas second employs Hydrus-1D simulate balance components along an experimental transect. Our results reinforce integrate insights previous studies use PTF, highlight ability, or inability, this technique adequately reproduce observed variability simulated fluxes.

New generation of hydraulic pedotransfer functions for Europe

A range of continental-scale soil datasets exists in Europe with different spatial representation and based on different principles. We developed comprehensive pedotransfer functions (PTFs) for applications principally on spatial datasets with continental coverage. The PTF development included the prediction of soil water retention at various matric potentials and prediction of parameters to ch...

Multiscale Pedotransfer Functions for Soil Water Retention

Soil hydraulic properties are needed in globaland regionalscale circulation models for hydrologic and climate forecasting. They are also necessary in pointand nonpoint-source contaminant transport models. Prediction accuracy of these models is highly dependent on the quality of the model parameters. Collecting the required soil hydraulic parameters by direct measurement at any model grid scale ...

Scale-Dependent Pedotransfer Functions Reliability for Estimating Saturated Hydraulic Conductivity

Saturated hydraulic conductivity Ksat is a fundamental characteristic in modeling flow and contaminant transport in soils and sediments. Therefore, many models have been developed to estimate Ksat from easily measureable parameters, such as textural properties, bulk density, etc. However, Ksat is not only affected by textural and structural characteristics, but also by sample dimensions e.g., i...
